4000 grant for ReUse Job Training Program (ReSET)

Finger Lakes ReUse is pleased to announce it has received a $4,000 grant from The Helen Thomas Howland Foundation as administered by the Community Foundation. Finger Lakes ReUse will use the funds to support its new job training program, ReSET (Skills Employment Training), which was launched on March 18, 2013 and is continuing with two more rounds of training this year. ReSET is a milestone in Finger Lakes ReUse short five year history. Teaching job skills and creating employment opportunities have always been core goals of the organization, but with the launch of ReSET, the organization now offers a formalized program, complete with scholarships for advanced-level trainees. Finger Lakes ReUse (FLR) is offering a new job-training program called ReSET (Skills and Employment Training). ReSET provides training in marketable job-skills to individuals seeking new career opportunities. ReSET offers two tracks: ReSET Tech--skills in computer technology, and ReSET Construction--skills in construction and green building. ReUse offers reduced price computers for low-income applicants

Finger Lakes ReUse eCenter offers a reduced price computer program for qualified candidates. Through this program, candidates may be eligible for reduced price computers which come equipped with a keyboard, mouse, CRT monitor (if desired), video cable and power cables. If interested in qualifying for this program, please contact the ReUse Center at 607-257-9699. The eCenter also offers computer servicing and repair at reasonable rates. We offer diagnostics up to half an hour for a low bench-fee that can then be deducted from any labor charges for the repair. No billable work will be done until diagnostics have been reviewed and the customer approves our estimate. Our number one goal is to keep your computer working, useful, and out of the landfill!... ReUse to hold volunteer orientation May 15, 2013

Looking for a new place to volunteer? Finger Lakes ReUse is looking for volunteers to help manage the large volume of donations received every day. Volunteers are needed to assist in processing incoming donations of furniture, housewares, computers, building materials and electronics.
