Finger Lakes ReUse (FLR) is offering a free entry-level training to individuals interested in gaining job skills in computer technology through its ReSET Tech job-training program. ReSET Tech offers an entry-level, 13 week program, approximately 16 hours per week Monday through Thursday, beginning September 9th, 2013. Applications for this round are due August 27, 2013.
In ReSET Tech, participants learn about computer components, their purposes
and how they function, how to test, refurbish and troubleshoot computers and computer components, how to install software and operating systems, and an introduction to other related topics by local industry professionals.
Participants who successfully complete the entry-level phase will have the potential to apply for a 15- week full time paid Apprenticeship Training in FLR’s eCenter program. Participants of both the entry-level and apprenticeship training will receive Certificates of Completion. Apprentices will have guaranteed interviews for a position in a related field at the completion of the advanced level training.
ReSET is supported by funds from the sale of used & refurbished materials at the ReUse Center as well as grants from the Ithaca Urban Renewal Agency, Tompkins County Solid Waste, The Howland Foundation as administered by the Community Foundation of Tompkins County, The Park Foundation, Triad Foundation, and The United Way’s Youth & Philanthropy Fund.
