Finger Lakes ReUse Announces a New Way to Shop Local ReUse: Online!
April 7, 2020 (ITHACA, NY) – Finger Lakes ReUse, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing waste and making local reuse materials available to all, has launched a new online shopping experience at shop.ithacareuse.org. Local reused materials can be purchased there with no-contact local pickup and delivery options. A wide variety of materials are available, including building materials, hardware, furniture, clothing, textiles, media, household items, and electronics, with new items posted frequently. Through this new initiative, ReUse is offering curbside pickup times between 11:00 am – 3:00 pm seven days a week at the Ithaca ReUse Center (214 Elmira Rd), and delivery options in Tompkins County.
Following the closing of their two ReUse Centers to the public on March 18th, ReUse has been hard at work developing new workplace safety guidelines and processes to continue offering essential reuse services as safe as possible. Purchases support Finger Lakes ReUse’s waste diversion efforts as well as their job training and community support programs. Sales of used materials make up 75% of ReUse’s revenue sources.
ReUse continues to operate their previous eBay store at ebay.com/str/ithacareuse with international shipping options., and expects to begin expanding this online catalog.
ReUse also invites the public to continue to use our Wish List at https://ithacareuse.org/wishlist/ for any specific item requests, trying to make matches whenever possible.
ReUse is posting updates about all of their essential programs and services on our website at ithacareuse.org as new information becomes available.
Finger Lakes ReUse continues to accept financial contributions at ithacareuse.org/donate, and gift cards are available to purchase on their new online store. Public support is especially appreciated during this time and will help Finger Lakes ReUse to be prepared to handle what is anticipated to be an increased local need for materials once reopened more fully to the public, including their donation acceptance areas.
