Alex Kearns-Apuya, he/him
Technology Manager
My role as Technology Manager is overseeing the varied IT needs of ReUse. My goal is to make these systems as efficient and reliable as possible in order to best facilitate the goals of the organization.
I first moved to Ithaca in 2000 and attended Ithaca High School. Technology has always been something I’ve been interested in, but I actually started my career as a chef, attending culinary school in NYC before moving back to Ithaca. My wife and I live in Lansing, and we have a one-year old daughter and a three-month old puppy!
Marissa McKown, she/her they/them
Volunteer Coordinator
Marissa is a veteran non-profit administrator and artist who hails from the Midwest, but has lived in both Japan and Seattle for a spell. A city mouse, Marissa has found their time in Ithaca to be quite delightful. They know basic ASL and Japanese, if you ever want to chat! Marissa is drawn to mission centered non-profits, and loves volunteer wrangling, fundraising, and creating connections and community.
In Marissa’s role at ReUse, they aim to create effective systems for volunteer appreciation, training, scheduling, and recruitment. Marissa works part-time and splits that time between the administrative office, our ReDOT warehouse leading denailing events , and both retail locations. She says: “If we haven’t said hello, let’s fix that! I look forward to getting to know you.” She enjoys building this new role, one brick at a time.
