Even though the world celebrates Earth Day on April 22nd, every day is Earth Day at Finger Lakes ReUse!

Reuse in action is complex and takes many hands, hearts and minds to successfully enact. We receive, identify, sort, value, clean, test, refurbish, and make items available again for sale, or for free to households in need. ReUse relies on the support of generous community members to keep this uniquely local service available for all.

Kept 895,911 items in local use that may have gone into the landfill.

Ithaca Rotary club volunteered over 540 hours and priced more than 20,000 items in a partnership with ReUse .

The eCenter refurbished 210 laptops and computers, 131 smartphones, and 134 tablets

Partnered with over 40 local human service agencies to provide 1036 households in need with $156,000 in gift card value through the ReUse Materials Access Program (ReMAP).

ReUse also provided 251 families a free delivery with their referral to this program.

Provided 34 nonprofits and community organizations with free materials for community projects and initiatives.

Through the ReUse ReSET (Skills and Employment) job training program, we worked with 33 trainees and successfully connected 6 to permanent, unsubsidized employment.

Provided 887 employees with a quality job.

Over 801 volunteers & 29 groups logged more than 12,946.50 hours by helping to support both of our Community ReUse Centers last year.

Who We Are

Finger Lakes ReUse is a not-for-profit with a mission to enhance community, economy and environment by offering accessible reuse services in Tompkins County and inspiring reuse to foster in other communities throughout New York State and beyond. Sales of used materials support 70-80% of our operating expenses. We rely on fundraising to support the very best of what we do, including offering 7-day, convenient reuse services, paid job skills training, and quality jobs.

Starting Friday, May 1, ReUse will extend shopping hours to 8 p.m. daily at both locations while temporarily limiting donation hours to 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Friday through Monday and closing donations Tuesday through Thursday
