Ithaca is sharing.

Help us build local resilience through shared resources.

The ReUse Materials Access Program helps community members in need by providing them with ReUse store credit.

We match every donated dollar with an additional dollar from our stores, effectively doubling the impact of your donation!

How does it work?

We accept referral applications for store credits from human service agencies. To find a comprehensive list of agencies in Tompkins and Cortland County, please go to the Human Service Coalition's list of services at 211.org or call 2-1-1 from any phone in Tompkins County.

For more information about the fund, please read the documents Information for Service Agencies and Information for Clients (links below).

Through this program, Finger Lakes ReUse has helped over 700 households and has provided over $100,000 in ReUse retail value items since 2017.

How can I support this program?

The ReUse Materials Access Program runs on gifts from community members like you. Our ReUse Community Fund is a restricted fund, contributing 50% of the cost of each of store credit given to a local household in need through this program. The other 50% is donated in-kind by Finger Lakes ReUse, meaning each dollar you donate makes double the impact in someone’s life.

Funding for this project is generously provided from the NYS Environmental Protection Fund as administered by a grant from the New York State DEC Environmental Justice Community Impact Grant Program, as well as the Friendship Fund, and generous individual donors.

To make a gift to support this program directly, go to our donate page and let us know you’d like 100% of your gift to go toward this program.

If you are an individual looking for assistance:

This program provides store credits to people in crisis or great need, such as recovering from a natural disaster, returning from prison or jail, leaving a domestic violence household, or serious financial constraints.

To qualify for a store credit through the ReUse Materials Access Program, you must be referred by a human service agency.  If the agency you work with is not aware of this program, please refer them to this website to complete a partner agreement with us before they can submit an application to assist you.

If you do not know which agency to work with, please dial 2-1-1 to talk to Tompkins County’s volunteer hotline to help you find the agency for your needs.

If you’re an agency looking to refer a client:

To refer a potential ReUse Materials Access Program recipient, please read both information sheets linked below and send a copy of a signed Partner Agreement to remap@fingerlakesreuse.org. We will provide the referral form upon completion of this Agreement, and from there you can submit a referral.
