Ithaca Fixers Collective now on Thursdays and Saturdays

What: Ithaca Fixers now on Thursdays and Saturdays Where: ReUse Center in Triphammer Marketplace (2255 N Triphammer Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850) When: Beginning October 3 through winter months: Thursdays from 6:00-8:00 PM and Saturdays 3:00- 5:00 PM Finger Lakes ReUse will begin hosting the Ithaca Fixers Collective on Thursday evenings in addition to regular Saturday meetings beginning October 3, 2013 and will continue throughout the winter. Thursday evening meetings will be 6-8pm and Saturdays are 3-5pm. The Ithaca Fixers Collective is open to anyone who has things to fix, wants to help fix items, and/or wants to learn how to repair items. Finger Lakes ReUse (FLR) is offering a free entry-level training to individuals interested in gaining job skills in computer technology through its ReSET Tech job-training program. ReSET Tech offers an entry-level, 13 week program, approximately 16 hours per week Monday through Thursday, beginning September 9th, 2013. Applications for this round are due August 27, 2013. In ReSET Tech, participants learn about computer components, their purposes and how they function, how to test, refurbish and troubleshoot computers and computer components, how to install software and operating systems, and an introduction to other related topics by local industry professionals. 4000 grant for ReUse Job Training Program (ReSET)

Finger Lakes ReUse is pleased to announce it has received a $4,000 grant from The Helen Thomas Howland Foundation as administered by the Community Foundation. Finger Lakes ReUse will use the funds to support its new job training program, ReSET (Skills Employment Training), which was launched on March 18, 2013 and is continuing with two more rounds of training this year. ReSET is a milestone in Finger Lakes ReUse short five year history. Teaching job skills and creating employment opportunities have always been core goals of the organization, but with the launch of ReSET, the organization now offers a formalized program, complete with scholarships for advanced-level trainees.
