ReMAP is a community effort at all levels.

What Is ReMAP?

ReMAP is a community effort. Through close collaboration with 40+ local human service agencies, Finger Lakes ReUse offers gift cards and free delivery to those in need, to shop for anything we sell. Since this program began in 2017, ReMAP has provided over $600,000 in assistance to over 3,000 local households in need. The average gift card granted is $200. These materials come in the form of furniture, electronics, clothing, building materials, household goods and more.

The need continues to grow! This year, we are on track to receive over 1,000 referrals and grant $220,000 in gift card value to people in need in our community. This is well beyond what we anticipated- and we need your help to continue to offer this valuable resource.

One of a Kind,

Low Barrier Access

This is a unique, low barrier program that supports those in our community for many different reasons. Some may be furnishing their new home, replacing a broken appliance or in need of warm clothing. Starting online classes and needing a computer for homework is an expense that many cannot afford. The tremendous growth of this program demonstrates the need there is for everyone to have access to quality materials.

Imagine waiting for months to move into housing, only to find yourself in an empty apartment. We have received many referrals this year expressing this exact situation. Financial constraints and the high cost of living can make it difficult to cover basic expenses. ReMAP was created to get donated materials back out into the community to anyone in need. Alleviating some financial burden and giving our neighbors the chance to turn their new house into a home, quickly, and empowering them to pick out their own items of choice.

How Donations Are Used

Your donations help local people with the buying power to purchase furniture, computer systems, household goods, appliances, or any other item they may need to get back on their feet. Donations made to the Community Fund are matched 1:1 in value by Finger Lakes Reuse. This means that every dollar you donate makes double the impact on someone’s life.

By giving underserved members of our community the autonomy to come in and shop with limited restrictions, we can help to break down the barriers many face once they gain housing or begin trying to rebuild – access to materials and delivery to their door.

This is how your donation can directly benefit someone in need:

  • $25 – A complete set of pots & pans, dishes & kitchen utensils
  • $50 – An air conditioner
  • $75 – A dresser
  • $100 – Clothing for a family of 3
  • $150 – An all-in-one desktop computer
  • $300 – A complete household for a family starting from scratch
