We are now accepting all quality reusable donations, including household items and clothing, effective immediately. Several weeks ago, Finger Lakes ReUse was forced to temporarily pause the acceptance of household and clothing items in order to manage our existing backlog. This pause period allowed us to catch up and we can now once again accept household and clothing items as long as they are in good, clean, and reusable condition.

All other regularly-accepted categories of items are still also very welcome, including furniture, electronics, computers and peripherals, books and media, building materials, lighting, shoes, and appliances.

This change will be in effect until further notice, at both donation acceptance areas at the Ithaca ReUse Center (214 Elmira Road) and ReUse MegaCenter (2255 N. Triphammer Road). Our donation acceptance locations remain open 6 days a week (closed only on Thursdays), 10 am – 6 pm.

Household materials generally include dishes, glassware, cookware, toys, artwork, frames, school/office supplies, luggage, bags, pet supplies, antiques, collectibles, and sporting goods. Clothing items include both adult and children’s items and accessories, and shoes are  accepted in all sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why did you have to temporarily stop accepting these types of materials?
    • Due to the overwhelming generosity of our material donors, the volume of donations continued to increase over the last year, and overwhelmed our overflow capacity and our ability to keep up.
  • When and where can I donate?
    • Our ReUse Centers are open daily – seven days per week, but our Donations acceptance areas are open six days (every day except Thursdays when they are closed to catch up and prepare for the weekend) 10 am – 6 pm, six days per week at either of our locations – 214 Elmira Rd (Ithaca ReUse Center) and 2255 N Triphammer Rd (ReUse MegaCenter). Look out for signs for where to drive up and a staff member will come out to assist you!
