FAQ

Do you have...

Our inventory changes frequently, but if you don’t see what you are looking for on our online inventory, put in a request on our ReUse wishlist and our Deconstruction Coordinator will get in touch with you if and when we have a deconstruction project that satisfies your needs. Or, better yet, visit our building material selection in-store to browse our available wares!

Is there a minimum of material I need to purchase?

We are happy to make sales for part or all of what is available—prices reflect this.

Are you still gathering final measurements? Contact our Deconstruction Coordinator, and they will keep you in mind as the material sells or more becomes available.

How do I use reclaimed building materials?

Reclaimed building materials can be used in a wide variety of applications. They can be reused as in its previous use—flooring could be flooring again—in a new project or renovation, you can re-process the material to use it in a new way, or it could be virtually anything if you’re being creative! Building materials are raw materials that you have the opportunity to craft into whatever use you would like.

Something to consider: salvaged materials may need to be re-processed for certain applications; this may include cleaning, cutting, or refinishing, depending on the use. Consider these associated times and/or prices when purchasing these materials.

How do I purchase?

Click the “Contact” button on the product page you are interested in. This will alert our Deconstruction Coordinator, who will contact you and answer any additional questions you may have.

Where is this material located?

Material on our Available Materials page may be in store, in storage at one of our warehouses, or still in the building that has yet to be deconstructed. If you want to view the materials you are interested in, please contact the Deconstruction Coordinator.

What do I do if I have building materials I’d like to donate to ReUse?

Finger Lakes ReUse accepts most types of building materials as a donation at both of our store locations (214 Elmira Rd, Ithaca, NY and 2255 N Triphammer Road, Ithaca, NY) from 10am-6pm everyday of the week except Thursday. Check our donation guidelines for what we do and do not accept here.

Have a larger donation of building materials? Contact our Deconstruction Coordinator, who will respond to see if there is an opportunity for us to perform a pick-up. Please note that we have a limited capacity to perform pickups at this time.

I have a structure I'd like you to deconstruct. How do I contact you about this

Feel free to fill out our deconstruction request form and our Deconstruction Coordinator will get in touch to discuss options. For general inquiries into deconstruction review our deconstruction webpage.

What types of building materials do you regularly have for sale?

We have a wide range of building materials available at our stores, including: lumber, windows, doors, cabinets, countertops, hardware, plumbing, electrical, lighting, siding, flooring, tiling, HVAC, appliances, fixtures, and tools.

What is the difference between "Available Materials" and "Incoming Materials"?

“Available Materials” are readily available and have specific quantities and dimensions. “Incoming Materials” include materials which haven’t been harvested yet and may differ in their final quantity and dimension. If you are moving forward with a project it is best to select from the “available materials” or visit one of our stores in person. If your project is still being worked out and you have a flexible timeline and need, checking on the “incoming materials” may work best for you.
