Finger Lakes ReUse Announces The Opening of The Cayuga ReUse Center

ITHACA, NY — Finger Lakes ReUse is pleased to announce the opening of its newest Community ReUse Center location after a successful move: the Cayuga ReUse Center, opening at 2309 North Triphammer Road in the Cayuga Shopping Center on Monday, June 15th. The new location joins the Ithaca ReUse Center (214 Elmira Road) as part of Finger Lakes ReUse’s ongoing mission to divert reusable goods from the waste stream, create local employment opportunities, and make quality secondhand goods accessible to the community. This location features an expanded retail space, larger than the combined retail spaces ReUse previously occupied in the Triphammer Marketplace.

The Cayuga ReUse Center will offer a wide variety of fresh, quality, gently used furniture, housewares, clothing, fabric supplies, electronics, building materials, computers, books, media, tools, sporting goods, and more that shoppers have come to expect from Finger Lakes ReUse. Purchases directly support community services, programs, and local jobs, including ReSET workforce training, the ReUse Material Access Program (ReMAP), eCenter electronics services, and deconstruction.

Due to an abundance of donated materials from the public, the Cayuga ReUse Center will not initially accept material donations from the community and will open its donation acceptance area at a later date.  The Ithaca ReUse Center will still be accepting items from 10 AM – 4 PM on Fridays – Mondays (closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

To celebrate Opening Day, Finger Lakes ReUse is offering a 15% off coupon to the first 50 shoppers through the doors on June 15th.

About Finger Lakes ReUse

Finger Lakes ReUse is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization operating two Community ReUse Centers open daily to the public (Cayuga ReUse Center – 2309 N Triphammer Rd, and the Ithaca ReUse Center – 214 Elmira Rd) in an effort to expand the reuse of and increase access to materials, provide job training opportunities, create living-wage jobs, improve the local standard of living, and teach repair and reuse skills. In the course of achieving these goals, ReUse builds community, strengthens the local economy, and protects the environment by redirecting materials away from landfills and into productive reuse.
