Finger Lakes ReUse to Celebrate Grand Opening of Cayuga ReUse Center

ITHACA, NY — Finger Lakes ReUse will celebrate the grand opening of the Cayuga ReUse Center Wednesday, September 16 through Saturday, September 19th, 2026 with a series of engaging events and activities, including a ribbon-cutting, ice cream giveaway, scavenger hunt and photo booth. The public is invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebrations.

SCHEDULE:

  • Wednesday 9/16 through Saturday 9/19, 10am to 8pm there will be a duck scavenger hunt throughout the Cayuga ReUse Center. Winners will receive a coupon for 15% off one item. One coupon is available per person.
  • Wednesday, September 16, 11:30am - ribbon-cutting ceremony. The celebration will include representatives from the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, New York State Senator Lea Webb, and New York State Assemblymember Anna Kelles. The ribbon-cutting will mark the official opening of the new ReUse Center and recognize the community partners who helped make the expansion possible. There will be a photo booth available from 11am to 1pm for visitors and partners to commemorate the grand opening. 
  • Saturday September 19, we will provide free ice cream donated by Purity Ice Cream from 1pm to 2pm while supplies last, and a photo booth from 11am to 1pm.

The Cayuga ReUse Center located at 2309 North Triphammer Road in the Cayuga Shopping Center, offers a wide selection of quality used goods, including clothing, books, furniture, household items, building materials, electronics, and more. The store gives materials a second life while providing affordable shopping options for the community.

Visitors will have opportunities to tour the new location and learn more about the ReUse Center and Finger Lakes ReUse's work.

“The Cayuga ReUse Center expands our ability to make reuse accessible to more people in our community,” said Diane Cohen, Chief Executive Officer of Finger Lakes ReUse. “This new location expands on the work we have been doing for years while creating new efficiencies and opportunities for affordable shopping, resource sharing and keeping good materials in use.”

The Cayuga ReUse Center continues Finger Lakes ReUse's vision of working toward a just, resilient, and waste-free world that values people and resources. Purchases directly support community services, programs, and local jobs, including ReSET workforce training, the ReUse Material Access Program (ReMAP), eCenter electronics services, and deconstruction.
